Voyager 1 probe, 35 years and 11 billion miles away from Earth, while Voyager 2 probe is 11 billion miles away from Earth. It originally launched in 1977 to study the outer Solar System and interstellar space beyond the Sun’s heliosphere. Voyager 1 probe was the first to race by Jupiter and Saturn. The images Voyager 1 sent back have been used in schoolbooks and by many media outlets for a generation. The Voyager 2 discovered unexpected diversity. Unlike the rocky inner planets Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars the outer planets are giant bodies of gas and liquid with no solid surfaces.
